Mesh Wi-Fi for the home.
Mesh WiFi is a way of making your WiFi signal stronger and more stable in your home. It works by using more than one device, called a node, to spread the WiFi signal to every corner of your home. The nodes talk to each other and automatically switch to the best signal, so you don’t have to worry about dead zones or slow WiFi. Mesh WiFi is good for people who have a big or tall home, have walls or things that block the WiFi signal, or want a simple and smart WiFi system. Mesh WiFi also lets you use the same network name and password for your whole home, so you don’t have to change networks when you move around.
To install TP-Link Deco devices in your home, you need to follow these steps:
- Download and install the Deco app on your smartphone or tablet from Google Play or the App Store.
- Open the Deco app and log in or sign up with a TP-Link ID.
- Tap Let’s begin and select your Deco model.
- Unpack the contents of the box and verify you have everything.
- Power off your modem and remove the backup battery if it has one.
- Connect one of your Deco units to your modem with an Ethernet cable and power on both devices.
- Wait for the Internet light to be stable on your modem.
- Turn on Bluetooth on your phone and wait for the Deco’s LED light to pulse blue.
- Your smartphone will try to find and link to the Deco.
- Assign your connected Deco to a room and choose your internet connection type.
- Create your Wi-Fi network name and password.
- Connect your phone/tablet to the Deco’s Wi-Fi.
- Setup complete. Now you can connect all your devices to the Deco network.
I had to set my ISP router into modem mode and also used an ethernet backhaul between device 1 and 2 allowing for the best and most reliable connection.
